The Startup Challenge just concluded its fifth annual competition. The program has served more than 300 regional entrepreneurs. The mission of The Startup Challenge is to foster economic development and job growth by encouraging and supporting entrepreneurs to start and grow new and innovative businesses.
The Challenge begins with a series of educational business workshops and application submission period over the first two months of the year. Then the budding entrepreneurs conduct five minute pitches to screening panels in the end of March where finalists are selected. The finalists complete a business plan and present to panels of investors, industry leaders and business consultants at an event in early May.
Peterson Communications, a founding organization and actively engaged in the steering committee, continues to be involved by conducting workshops for startups, driving communications for the program, leading marketing initiatives, and as a sponsor to helping fund the program and donate cash and services to the prize package.
